On Wednesday, Singapore Airlines specified that it has initiated to fly the A380 Superjumbo to Melbourne, the sixth city worldwide in its network to receive the Airbus aircraft.
Executive vice president Huang Cheng Eng said in a statement, "The A380 continues to be extremely popular with our customers."
At present, Singapore's national carrier runs several aircrafts, which, other than Melbourne, it flies to Sydney, London, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong.
The airline confirmed of having another nine A380 aircraft on firm order and options on six more.
Earlier, the hard hit airline (due to global recession), reported that it had settled with Airbus to postpone the delivery of eight A380s by six to 12 months.
Singapore Airlines, in its first quarter, posted a loss of 307-million-Singapore-dollar (216-million-US-dollar), which ended in the month of June, which came as the first quarterly loss for the Airline since 2003, which was the year for the outbreak of serious respiratory syndrome, or SARS.
The airline said that it expects to be in the red for the whole year, if the adverse business conditions caused by the global economic downturn continue.
