While, there were some media reports that the global automobile giant, Toyota Motor Corporation will be shifting its production base out of Thailand for international exports from Indonesia, the company has rather refused any intentions of doing so.
Notably, amidst all the speculations, it surely angered the Thailand's Board of Investments (BOI), which accused the auto major of hampering investor confidence in the marketplace. However, the good news for all the consumers back in the Indian market is that they could get their hands on their own Fortuner SUVs sooner than expected.
The company has clarified that the CKD units of the Toyota Fortuner for India would continue to be brought from Thailand and once the Indonesian factory of the automaker is ready for production, the Thailand plant will have to cater only fewer export markets.
While the Indian subsidiary that works in a JV with the Kirloskar Group has closed the bookings for the SUV for the past many months now, but, the consumer interest is not going down by any means. In fact, one can easily spot many consumers at the Toyota dealerships enquiring about the Fortuner.a
