The reports that the Thai Government plans to purchase the Thaicom's satellite business from Singapore's Temasek Holdings again, caught everybody’s attention in short period of time. But, Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, denied commenting on the matter, yesterday.
The share prices of the Company peaked 31% on Monday and Tuesday, while Thaicom closed at Bt6.50, with a decline of 9.72%, from Tuesday. SET President, Charamporn Jotikasthira informed that the office knew about the latest buyers and sellers.
He said, that the office needs to evaluate any breaches of law by anyone, and that after collecting this information, the office will report to the Securities and Exchange Commission or SEC.
On the other hand, the SEC Secretary-General, Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala, stated that the agency was awaiting the “preliminary investigation report from the SET”.
Main focus of the SET information will be to highlight any unlawful activity in the share price and will also see if the list of investors included some “unfamiliar individuals”, he assured.
Thirachai added that one this information is thoroughly collected and reported to the SEC, an in-depth investigation will be launched.
According to the Puea Thai Party Spokesman, Prompong Nopparit, SEC will be given 30 days for completion of the investigation and will take serious action after the report is analyzed in detail.
