As the 43 co-members raised eye brows over the issue of mankind participation in global warming, the Britain's premier scientific institute, The Royal Society, is reviewing its statement on climate change.
Panel has been constructed for rewriting the official position of 350-year-old institution.
Understanding the need of correcting the previous statement, Lord Martin Rees, President of the Royal Society said that perception about the science to have reached its highest level is incorrect as there is always a space for new observations, theories, and measurements. This is in contradiction to the statement given by Lord May, society's previous president, and "The debate on climate change is over".
The Royal Society is leading authorities on the topic of global warming and has also appointed the panel for investigation and endorsement of the climate science of the University of East Anglia. The society's acceptance of conducting the review had taken UN by surprise.
The petition demanding the review bears the sign of 72 years old electrical engineer, Sir Alan Rudge, a society Fellow and former member of the Government's Scientific Advisory Committee.
Sir Alan refused to name the other rebellion but admitted that some of them are the fellows.
Out of 1,300 Fellows, who were contacted, two third of them signed the petition against the documents published in the 2007.
Bob Ward, policy director of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change at LSE had requested the signatories to come forward so that their doubts can be cleared.
The same time the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), United Nations advisory on global warming, also came under doubt for incorrectly claiming the melting of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035
