Restyling RAV4: Toyota

Toyota has revamped its RAV4 compact SUV with novel looks, new gear and a lower entry-point for the 2.2-litre turbo diesel.

The entry-level model is the Toyota RAV4 XT-R, which now starts with a 2.2-litre D-4D engine with front-wheel-drive barely and six-speed manual transmission.

This promises that CO2 emissions will be even lesser than the already inspiring four-wheel drive edition, which at 154g/km CO2, 48.7mpg combined and 148bhp is as a minimum as potent and considerably greener than all competitors in this section.

Fusing with the two- and four-wheel drive diesel manuals in the XT-R trim are a 2.0-litre four-wheel drive petrol Multidrive S CVT automatic and an edition of the four-wheel drive diesel with a more traditional six-speed automatic.

The diesel auto is the only RAV4 accessible in the range-topping SR equipment level.

The RAV4 now starts from £22,410.

An average kit has upgraded, with leather and Alcantara upholstery with heated front seats now included on the XT-R, next to new 17-inch alloy wheels.

Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers, seven airbags and six-speaker stereo carry on as before.

The latest Toyota RAV4 is available to make order now with primary showroom deliveries listed for 1 June 2010.
