Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop has declined any participation in Pos Malaysia Bhd that earned around RM546mil in losses over the years.
On Saturday, Nor Mohamed told journalists after an awards-presentation ceremony for the state’s top Sijil Penilaian Malaysia students, “I am not directly involved because Pos Malaysia, as a Government-linked Company, has its board of directors, and any decision is determined by the board, including Khazanah Nasional Bhd, without having to refer to the Ministry of Finance”.
He said that Khazanah Nasional was engaged in the legislative, since it had its spokesperson in the company’s Board of Directors, adding that, it had made its clarification before.
Nor Mohamed was remarking on a statement by Bayan Baru MP, Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim, who had asked Nor Mohamed to tell the truth and explicate the losses endured by Pos Malaysia.
In another claim by Zahrain, in reference to the selection of up to eight Danaharta Bhd persons as Chief Executive Officers in GLCs, Nor Mohamed said that there was no trouble with the employments as they were competent enough to head the positions.
Formerly, Nor Mohamed, who is also Tasek Gelugor MP, doled out RM500 cash rewards to 300 top SPM pupils in the state.
