Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan landed in Singapore, starting his official visit to the city-state on the invitation of Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng.
Singapore has diplomatic relations with China since 1990 and the four day visit by Chinese Minister will further strengthen diplomatic ties between both countries.
Mr. Wang Qishan will co-chair the 6th China-Singapore Joint Council Meeting in the city-state aimed to strengthen mutual trade ties. Besides, he will also address the 11th China-Singapore Joint Steering Council Meeting and 2nd China-Singapore Joint Steering Council Meeting for the Tianjin Eco-City.
Both leaders will ink deals related to education cooperation and science and technology besides tax treaty agreement for promoting and regulating business co-operation. Ministers from both sides will also join the meeting and will discuss measures to mitigate the impact of global financial crisis.
Mr. Wang, 51, will also meet Singapore's President S. R. Nathan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew during his official visit.
SM Goh, under his capacity as the Monetary Authority of Singapore chairman, will host lunch for the guest.
