McDonald's confirms about its plans to double the outlets in China in the span of 3 years by the end of 2013. The move has been taken in order to support the plans of expansions in one of the world's fastest growing economy.
The numbers of current outlets in China are 1100 and the company aims to boost the expansion to 2000. The information was communicated by Tim Fenton, the company's president, responsible for three regions which are Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
China Chief Executive Kenneth Chan confirmed that the famous food chain will be opening up 150 to 175 outlets in China. Mc Donalds forayed in China in the southern town of Shenzhen during the year 1990 and have gradually increased their work force to 60,000.
McDonald's is also planning to increase its investments in Asia, the Middle East and Africa due to the recovery in consumer spending. It will be moving to the "beef eater" markets a well, primarily South Korea.
Joel Silverstein, President of Hong Kong-based restaurant consultant East West Hospitality Group Ltd said, "McDonald's is really the only company with the best portfolio of markets around the world. In Asia, they are still growing".
