Opera Software has launched Opera Mini 5 beta for the mobile handsets that are based on Windows Mobile 5 and 6. The application previously ran only on Opera Mobile app.
The beta version of the software enables the integration of the browser with the Windows Mobile platform. The browser will work on all windows mobile that does not require Java.
The company said in a statement, "Opera is able to deliver an optimized version of the popular Opera Mini browser that dramatically improves performance and the overall user experience."
Opera prepared a new version of Opera Mini that runs on Windows phones using the C-based programming language instead of Java. The company also said that the beta version has similar features to the java enabled version such as rich features like tabbed browsing, password manager, bookmarks and Speed Dial.
The company claims that Opera Mini compresses data by up to 90 percent and thus gives increased speeds. It says that the improved loading time can save costs for the users.
Dag Olav Norem, Vice President of Products, further said that there are more than 50 million users of Opera Mini and the company is pleased to offer it as a native Windows Mobile application.
