Recently, Ashley Jarvis was appointed as Asia-Pacific head of prime brokerage sales and global head of business consultancy for UBS, as the company mulls the expansion of its prime brokerage coverage of Asia. Earlier, Jarvis was the head for prime brokerage business consulting services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Jarvis, before joining UBS in 2004, worked as a senior consultant launching hedge funds with Leale-Green, and also with The Financial Services Authority in the UK. He will be based in Hong Kong for his new role, in which he will look after the firm's marketing efforts across the Asia-Pacific region.
Jarvis, who commenced his role on August 1, replaced Anna Sils, who left the bank for personal reasons, according to sources.
Furthermore, a new post has also been created by the bank in Singapore, where its prime brokerage business has been one of the firm's strongest performers with a number of its key client relationships, and has brighter future prospects. The sources confirm that Alastair Sclater has been asked by the firm to head the prime brokerage business in Singapore effective immediately.
It should be noted that the firm's sales efforts in Singapore had been led by Sclater till now. However, if the sources are to be believed then this new overall prime brokerage role will allow him to efficiently coordinate sales, client service and relationship management.
The Singapore team, which retains its functional reporting lines, will now report location-wise to Sclater.
