New Laptop for Computer Newbies Announced

People who are new to the computer and end up feeling confused and frustrated by the whole technology, can now turn to a new laptop, released as Alex, which has been developed specifically to help computer novices.

With a Linux platform, the laptop comes equipped with a simplified e-mail, web browsing, image editing and office software. All those who sign up for Alex need to pay 39.95 Pounds a month for telephone support, software updates and access to broadband.

Alex's developers are now hoping that the laptop and its simplified suite of software would prove to be a popular alternative to Windows and Mac operating systems.

"Alex is not designed as a super-computer. We're not buying into the current computer market", said Barney Morrison-Lyons, Head of Technology at The Broadband Computer Company which is behind Alex.

As has been shared by the company, over 2.5 Million Pounds worth of funds have been injected in development of the product.

Broadband services are being provided by Southampton-based ISP Murphx.
