SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan has requested for an update on the development of Altnagelvin’s proposed Radiotherapy Centre.

In one of the letters to Health Minister Michael McGimpsey, Mr Durkan has laid stress on the need for progress on the new local cancer unit.

A leading charity in Northern Ireland has advised people for not playing iPods too loud. It was found that a large number of youngsters who play iPods at a greater pitch had experienced early hearing loss.

Another institution, The Royal National Institute for the Deaf NI analyzed that, listening music at high volumes on Mp3 players for long hours is similar to listening to a power drill at close range.

Singapore Technologies Telemedia (STT) is set to buy Ireland based telecom operator Eircom for €130m by the end of next week, according to reports by confidential sources. The telecom giant had earlier offered €120m for Eircom in June which was supported by the Eircom Employee Share Ownership Trust (ESOT).
