Previous Solitary Seafood Dealer Imprisoned for Bribing Chefs
As per reports, the mastermind behind the S$1 million hotel bribery case has finally got an 18 month imprisonment.
The whole issue came to limelight after several previous reports exposed the scandal details, which stated that the mastermind, who was a former seafood dealer, gave the huge amount to the most of the famous hotels and restaurants chefs.

New rules to protect clients from rogue lawyers
Alterations made to rules and regulations that don’t allow conveyancing lawyers to abscond with their clients' money were passed in Parliament on Monday. The MPs however expressed a little concern regarding its impact on the legal profession.

Second man in SLA scam jailed three years
A man, who made a conspiracy to cheat the statutory board of about $297,000 in the company of two employees of Singapore Land Authority (SLA), was put behind the bars. He has been jailed for three years on Monday.
After this a person named Anthony Xavier Foo Doon Tong, 43, a partner of Ribbons and Rolls Marketing Services (R&R) was also jailed. He was the second person who was found guilty and was sentenced.
New legislation for the lawyers
After a long wait of around 19 months, a new legislation is revealed in parliament to keep a check on the scams done by lawyer with their customer’s conveyancing money. After the series of pilot trails since august 2009 the ministry of law (MiniLaw) has boycotted the lawyer for keeping the clients conveyancing money in their regular client account.
Government Forms Committee to Study Fee Disparity
The state government has constituted a single-member committee headed by retired Justice H N Narayan.
The committee has been developed to look into the disparity in fee structure for medical and dental courses for both government and private colleges coming under the COMED-K group of institutions and the Karnataka religious and linguistic minority group of institutions.
"The committee will be asked to fix the fee structure and recommend the same to the state government for approval within one or two months", Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda told reporters here on Friday.
Nokia's Lawsuit Against LCD Makers Could Result in Lower Cost of Handsets
Giant mobile devices manufacturer Nokia has recently shared its plans of slapping as many as 11 LCD makers and their American units with a lawsuit alleging collusion and price fixing. With the lawsuit, the Finland based firm is hoping to win damages to efficiently recover the money it overpaid to various companies for LCD displays for many of its handset models.
