US FDA Bans Philip Morris for Cigarettes Promotion
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday prevented the cigarette maker, Philip Morris, to evade the ban on promoting the cigarettes as "light," "mild" or "low-tar".
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration in a letter to Morris parent Company, Altria Group had shown its concerns over the advertisements written on the packs of Marlboro Lights.
The ban is to be in effect from June 22 onwards and has authorized the FDA to regulate tobacco products.

According to a panel of experts Wednesday, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) needs to exchange its crude tools for measuring the benefits of food, drugs and supplements for a whole set of new standards.

FDA to Target Food Packaging with Misleading Nutritional Claims
The Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday that it is all set to seek, target and clear up the confusion caused by sometimes misleading nutritional claims made on packagings for different food products.
Officials said that by early next year, FDA will issue proposed standards, which the companies have to follow while making nutrition labels for their food products.
It is reported that food companies put numerous labels on the front of packaged products to attract consumers, and not all these labels are always true.
