UK brimmed with computers and TV zombies
Ofcom’s latest survey has claimed that the UK citizens most of their waking hours either looking at their monitor screens, or TVs or mobiles.
An average Brit does seven hours a day texting, surfing the net, playing games, listening to the radio or watching TV programmes. After keeping aside eight hours for sleep one is left out with approximately 45% of the day.
Broadband and phone simplifying the turndown
If someone is feeling fed up with their home phone/broadband provider but has tied itself into a long contract, then now is the time you can buy the same for much less, with accordance to the telecoms regulator.
Since the past 18 months, Ofcom has been tied up with the three biggest UK landline providers, BT, TalkTalk and Virgin Media, to make sure that the charges when imposed on the customers can now end their contracts early.
Ofcom Publishes Draft Code, Detailing Three-strikes Process
Ofcom is reported to have published a draft code concerning the implementation of first stages of the Digital Economy Act, outlining how copyright holders and ISPs will attempt to catch suspected unlawful file-sharers.
The draft initial obligations code was uncovered on Friday and is open to consultation until 30 July.
Ofcom’s File Sharing Crackdown Condemned by BT
Following the proposals of Ofcom to crackdown illegal file sharing, the plan has been condemned by BT.
Reports claim that BT is upset at Ofcom over the plan of the regulator to crackdown the illegal file sharing. Criticizing the plan, BT argued that the larger internet service providers (ISPs) were being put at a disadvantage with the move.
ISPs to Keep Record of Unlawful Filesharing
Reports claim that the Ofcom has opened discussion on a draft of the code of practice. It urges to enforce the Digital Economy Act's (DEA) copyright enforcement regime.
