The retail chain of France, Carrefour has reported a net profit of 67 million euros in the first six months of this year compared to a net loss of 48 million euros in the same time period of last year.

The giant French supermarket, Carrefour, has dismissed reports, claiming that its stores in Malaysia and Singapore will shut down following the revelations that it would close down its Southeast Asian outlets.

It was also posted that Carrefour had recently launched four hypermarkets in Malaysia this year and plans to open four more by the end of this year.

As a reply to the world-wide speculations rumoring that Carrefour is “offloading” its assets in South Asia for around US$1 billion, the French giant, Carrefour,  said that it is not selling neither of its outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, or in Thailand. This reply came on the heels of the launching of Carrefour’s four hypermarkets in Malaysia, with plans to open another four by the end of this year in Malaysia as well.
