Canada's Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. is contemplating partnerships with international companies that could put mutually a contending offer to Anglo-Australian miner BHP Billiton's hostile $38.6 billion bid for the fertilizer giant, according to a report Friday.
BHP has launched a new bid for PotashCorp
The mining giant BHP Billiton has offered a new takeover bid of 40 billion dollars for the fertilizer maker Canadian firm Potash Corp after being rejected for the initial offer by the Canadian firm.
The largest fertilizer producer of the world, Potash had rejected the previous offer of BHP saying that it had undervalued the company. The mining company BHP has offered 130 dollars per share to buy the PotashCorp.
BHP to escape yearly prices, signs up for short term deals
The World's largest seller of coking coal, BHP Billiton has announced that many of its customers have agreed to short term pricing for the coal.
The coking coal is mainly used for steel manufacturing. The company had been asking for short term spot prices for coal as well as irons ore and now it has finally managed to break the traditional pricing based on yearly benchmarks.
BHP confirms talks with China
The world's largest diversified miner and No. 3 iron ore miner, BHP Billiton Ltd, is still working on plans to sign a long-term iron ore price contracts with Chinese steel mills. Tom Schutte, president, marketing for BHP, said that the firm is set to start next year's negotiations for the deal to materialize soon.
Mr Schutte said: "China is well advanced with most indicators increasing to strength, continuing a stronger-than-expected recovery and positive momentum."
